Diana
A Lunari warrior imbued with the power of an Aspect from beyond Mount Targon, Diana fights as a living example of the power of the moon. Armed with her crescent-shaped moonsilver sword, Diana dazzles foes with moonlight before dashing in to deliver high bursts of damage.
Released in what can now be considered the "early days" of League, a mere 3 years after launch, Diana was designed after the release of Leona, a heavy-plate bearing warrior of the Solari, a sun-based clan. Riot set out to design a champion who was the opposite in many ways – moon vs. sun, stealth vs. plate, rebellion vs. order.
The link between the two characters was successful, and fans shipped the two as a couple for years. Riot finally upgraded their relationship status from It's Complicated 10 years later.
Diana fits right into my wheelhouse. I am a sucker for moon-based imagery and themes. I like assassin characters that are a little bit different from the nefarious, slender-blade stabby characters we often see in the role. It was a match for me, and Diana was one of my mains when I played League – despite the fact that she was mainly subjected to the Jungler role at the time, which I never really improved at.
I also played her as my main deck in Legends of Runeterra, the League of Legends CCG. I was a bit better with her there than the jungle, but not a ton.
Keys to the Character
Best Crescent Since The Wrench
Diana's moonsilver crescent sword is a beautiful unique blade, cutting as instantly recognizable a silhouette as the buster sword, masamune or master sword.
Moonie Loonies
The Lunari worship and venerate the moon, which has got them in some hot water by those sun-loving Solari folks who also live on Mt. Targon. Can't we all just get along?
Midnight Snack
As a Jungler in League of Legends, Diana has perfected hiding in the bush, just outside of ward range, waiting for the perfect time to assist (or ks) with a gank. Hunting is second nature, especially in the dark.
A Love Eclipsed
Despite the long dispute between the Solari and the Lunari, Leona and Diana are officially a couple – after 10 years of fan shipping. It's going to be a bit of an awkward "meet the parents" dinner, when Diana says grace to the moon.
Diana waits in the wings, ready to choose the best moment to blind foes with pale moonlight before dashing in for the kill. As a Jungler, she requires a little bit of self-sustain to live through slaying monsters on her own. As well, she needs the burst potential for those satisfying ganks.
Building a more straight-forward assassin can be a lot of fun when trying to nail a certain flavor or theme. It is fairly easy to do it with Diana, who makes a lot of sense as an Ranger with a Cleric Dedication.
On the battlefield, Diana singles out high priority targets. When the opportunity presents itself, she strikes – dazzling them with a nburst of moonlight, before leaping in for high-damage strikes from her blade.
The Cleric dedication provides the Moon domain, and Diana receives two focus points as the build progresses. Just enough to get her biggest combo off once or twice per encounter, leaving two important foes as dust.
Out of combat, Diana's stealth can come in handy for parties looking to get into restricted places, though she isn't as skilled at Thievery as rogues dedicated to more criminality. She also knows everything there is to know about the moon, if that ever comes up.
Build OVERVIEW
Ancestry
Cavern Elf
It certainly makes sense that Diana would spend time in the caves of Mt. Targon, but more importantly, the Lunari are night-owls. It kind of comes with the territory of worshiping the moon.
Cavern elf gives that darkvision that Diana wants to hunt down prey at night, as well as some nifty Elf feats that make her fast, sleeker and more perceptive.
Background
Hunter
The closest thing to "jungler". Diana is a warrior of the Lunari, specifically trained to tactically hunt down enemies of Mt. Targon.
Additionally, the Hunter background gives Dexterity and Wisdom – two things Diana wants – and the Survey Wildlife skill feat, which is an important task for a jungler. "Can I beat this before smiting?".
Class
Ranger - Precision Edge
This build was using a Rogue as the class until the 11th hour. It worked well, but felt like a betrayal on some level. Ranger feels right – it offers some extra Diana-like functionality while still offering burst potential. Not as much burst potential, sure, but still meaningful.
But what is given up in Sneak Attack burst is made up for with tons of additional utility and theme – including Gravity Weapon, which is the lunar-empowerment that Diana's moonblade is looking for.
Alongside the base Ranger class, Diana picks up a Cleric Dedication for two feats: Basic Domain (for Moonbeam) and Advanced Domain (for Touch of the Moon, and her third Focus Point).
Skills & General Feats
Diana has trained for a long time to be strong and silent enough to hunt prey throughout Mt. Targon.
Legendary: Athletics, Stealth
Master: Religion
Expert: Survival

Temple Sword - This is a great stand in for the moonsilver blade, especially with a few runes.
